The Opportunity:
Do you think big picture, are you able to connect the dots, problem solve and enjoy digging into the “how” behind a project?
This apprenticeship will allow City Colleges of Chicago students to experience the inner workings of the world’s largest communications firm – helping create integrated communications campaigns for some of the world’s best-known brands alongside a variety of experts in everything from media relations to video production to influencer engagement.
You'll dig into the work, become a critical member of multiple teams and engage in real-world client problems. You’ll also be mentored by some of the most experienced professionals in the business – who’ll openly share their knowledge with you and help you propel your future. Because Weber Shandwick is not only dedicated building brands, but also building careers.
By the end of your apprenticeship, you’ll have learned how to successfully operate in a major organization and be able to apply learnings to the rest of your career.

- Strong organization skills, time management and attention to detail
- Ability to multi-task, handle a fast-paced environment and fully immerse in clients’ business
- Proficient in Microsoft Office suite programs; proficiency in design (Illustrator) or video production a plus
- Proficient with multiple social media networks
Responsibilities:
As an apprentice, your responsibilities will vary day-to-day and will depend on specific team deliverables, but they may include:
- Participating in team brainstorms
- Monitoring media to inform and educate strategy and action
- Conducting research and analysis
- Preparing media relations materials
- Media outreach
- Coordinating event planning and logistics
- Content production for plans, social channels and/or internal communications channels
- Influencer engagement; contracting
Requirements:
- This exciting opportunity is available for City Colleges of Chicago students who are able to work Monday through Friday, for around 30-35 hours weekly. The apprenticeship is a year in duration and is a paid program.
